Your child ends each day with a clutter of pencils, crayons, colored papers, wet paint brushes, a roomful of drawings and an installation of toys. Each morning your angel hurries to tell you stories s/he makes up from last night’s dream or the last story book read. Upon checking your child’s school stuff you see the blank pages of each textbook filled with doodles, colors, figures and shapes.

No doubt about it. You gave birth to an artist. With this realization, we know that you are going to need an artist’s mind and hands to help your child develop his/her artistic potential.

The Young Artists’ Studio (YAS) is a venue for young artists to learn art production at an early age. YAS is managed by art practitioners with a vision to develop young artists who will contribute to the art community in the near future. YAS believes that art is a powerful tool to influence communities, improve lives, and transform the society.

Since the early years in art history, the ‘studio’ has been the primary venue for brewing young artists. In fact, most famous artists have apprenticed in the studios of the prime artists before them. ‘Studio work’ is one important tradition that any young artist should be accustomed with.

We also believe that art is never a season trend. It is not an activity; it is life. Because of this YAS offers art programs all throughout the year so you’re sure that art teachers are always available to help you render your concepts easily and with proper techniques. Who says you can’t paint? This program is created for the aspiring painter who wishes to learn the basic painting principles and techniques. Students are exposed to different painting materials (acrylic, oil, watercolor) and different genres (still life, portrait, landscape, seascape, etc.).

Mommy & Child Culinary Arts Workshop

A productive way to bond with your child is to learn culinary arts with him/her. Share the fun of baking and pastry decorating with your child and make sweet treats while spending sweet moments with your child. This workshop is an introductory course in baking and pastry decorating to develop baking skills vis-à-vis creativity.

B&W Film Photography & Photo Processing

Learn photography the traditional way! Be technically adept in image-making, capture the world in black and white, process your own film rolls and make your own prints in this intensive workshop. Participants are required to bring their own film camera. Rentals are available.

Art for Beginners: Let’s Tour the World

This program is a hodge-podge of different art forms, composed of 10 sessions of light, fun and relaxed classes that combine play and art appreciation/production. We encourage new students to take this program before proceeding to other more specialized programs. This quarter’s theme is ‘arts of the world’ to give the kids an experience of famous art forms around the globe.

Fashion Design Camp for Kids and Teens

October 24-28, 1pm-5pm

A week-long all-in-one workshop in basic fashion design, fashion illustration, basic patternmaking, sewing/construction that will surely give a complete fashion experience for young fashionistas.

We request that you claim them as soon as possible; we can’t assure you of security or safety of your works. Toasted staff will keep an eye on them but won’t be responsible for any damages or loss. We hope you understand.

Sight

In affairs of looking and seeing, at times debating on which of the two is key to understanding an image, what viewers see are images of the second instance. A painting for one is a recording of what its painter once looked at and was able to see; what comes to us has already been processed, contemplated upon and recreated.

As viewers, the story of an artwork’s composition, ensembles of colors and humble/sophisticated strokes – the narrative of the first instance, interests us especially when we have an affinity with its maker. We ask a number of questions to find out how this young artist we know is able to see the world the way his/her art shows.

In this exhibit, you’ll find a collection of images of scenes, objects and ideas drawn from everyday life. These images collectively expound how young artists see the everyday as a reference of their imagination and how each young artist decides on what s/he would like you to see. They also illustrate how ‘sight’ varies, that we may look at the same thing but see it differently.

Portraits, landscapes, still life paintings, drawings, photographs, soft sculptures and short films in this exhibit engage you to define each young artist’s sight.

Fashion Design for Kids and Teens (8-15)

This program’s objective is to teach the young artists the basic principles of fashion design combined with practical lessons on design drawing, patternmaking, dressmaking and accessorizing. Since most kids, especially young girls, wish to create outfits for their toys, Barbie dolls, and their friends, this program is most useful to develop their aesthetics and skills through their existing interest. The program includes designing and actual production of clothes for a total of 6 sessions this summer.
